VICTORIA LONDON SCHOLARSHIP
Victoria London passed away in 2014 after a courageous battle with ALS. Victoria received her Master’s in Engineering and Business Administration at Columbia University and was the first woman ever admitted to Columbia’s Chemical Engineering Society, Phi Lambda Epsilon.
In 1974, Victoria moved to Key Biscayne and became part of the community. It is through her passion and generosity that future generations will pursue degrees and their own passions and, in doing so honor the incredible legacy of Victoria London.

This award is important to me because…
Receiving this award has granted me the invaluable capacity to dedicate attention to my academic pursuits, active participation in the community, and the pursuit of post-MBA career prospects. My background is far from one of privilege or affluence; rather, it’s quite the opposite. For years, the prospect of attending Columbia Business School remained a distant and seemingly unattainable dream. The financial challenges surrounding my education appeared insurmountable. This award has allowed me to pursue my aspirations. With this opportunity, I am poised not only to further my own financial prospects but also to affect positive change in the financial circumstances of my family. I will be the first in my family to earn an MBA, and attend Columbia University. This opportunity is transformational for my family. I am extremely grateful and excited to pay it forward. Thank you so much!

This award is important to me because…
Receiving the Victoria London ’74 Scholarship has not only allowed me to enrich my experience at Columbia Business School, but it was also a major factor in my decision to attend. This award has alleviated financial pressure, enabling me to return to school and pursue my passion. It has also allowed me to immerse myself in my classes, extra-curricular activities, and take on an in-semester internship. By allowing me to expand my experience beyond the classroom, this scholarship’s support has been pivotal in shaping my career trajectory. I would like to share my sincere thanks for this award.

This award is important to me because…
I am so grateful for this award! I am planning on pursuing entrepreneurship post-grad. The only financial safety net I have is my own earned wealth and savings, so having as few loans as possible after graduating gives me the flexibility to take more risks sooner in the pursuit towards an impactful and fulfilling career. This generous award provides me that opportunity to take on more risk and explore my options beyond returning to private equity post-grad, or to do PE again and pay down the debt sooner so I can more freely pursue entrepreneurship through acquisition.

This award is important to me because…
I am so grateful to the donors for making my studies at Columbia Business School possible. Because of this award, I am able to devote my time to academics rather than worrying about taking on another job to support myself during this time. I am also able to pursue opportunities like trips and social events with my cohort without worrying so much about the strain of debt. I also will have more flexibility in the job that I undertake after graduation because I won’t feel the pressure of having to pay back as many student loans immediately. I am so thankful for the weight that has been lifted off me as a result of this award. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much.
