Girls Volleyball on Key Biscayne
Girls Volleyball is one of the most popular sports in Key Biscayne that is exclusively for girls. The program has grown significantly in the past six years. Enrollment consistently reaches its maximum of 120 players with a waiting list of 20 to 30 girls. Before being modified by our Youth Athletics Advisory Board, registration filled up in less than three hours.
Sport Director Jill Stephens believes that volleyball is not just about skill development or winning a game. Players learn to cooperate as a group in a competitive team environment, develop leadership skills, and gain physical strength and coordination.
Acquiring good sportsmanship is a top priority. When players learn to win with humbleness and lose with dignity, then they receive a valuable lesson in sportsmanship, self-respect and life itself.
The popularity of the sport would not be possible without parent involvement and the generosity of Key Biscayne’s business community. Monetary donations literally make the difference between a good season and a great one. In addition to helping keep registration fees low, donations go toward supplemental training for beginner coaches, remedial training for beginning and struggling players, an on-site manager, workshops on conditioning and injury prevention, practice jerseys and other spirit building paraphernalia, an end-of-season celebration, and more.
