Key Biscayne Lighthouse Run
The annual Key Biscayne Lighthouse 10K/5K Run starts and finishes near the base of the historical Cape Florida Lighthouse in Bill Baggs State Park. Both races run through the state park and the beautiful Village of Key Biscayne. Participants enjoy free state park entrance, water stations and race clocks throughout course. There will be food, water, adult beverages, music and massages for all runners after the race.
Registration opens September 1
The KBLHR is held on the second Saturday of November each year and is the oldest 10K race in South Florida. Starting in 2002, (use person’s name instead of I) was the right-hand (wo)man of the previous race director, Jim Brewster, one of the founding members of the race. On the 30th anniversary of the race, Jim handed the reins to Jill Gomez. With the help of a wonderful “race crew” and many local volunteers, we put together a 10K and 5K running race that runs through Bill Baggs State Park and into the streets of Key Biscayne, giving people on and off the Key a wonderful race to run or walk – and hopefully motivating them to get out and exercise more.
The KBLHR also donates all of its net profit (usually $8,000-$10,000 a year) to the various charities who volunteer for the race.
