Corazoncitos Key Biscayne
Every year in Uruguay, around 450 children are born with congenital heart disease, and over 200 pediatric cardiac operations are conducted. Lila Malmierca and her family are well aware of this reality. Having been born with congenital heart disease and spent time in a neonatal intensive care unit, Lila recovered and has thrived as a young girl. Now a sophomore at Carrollton School, she channels her experience to help support children and their families in Uruguay, ensuring they receive the same quality care and support that she did.
Corazoncitos Key Biscayne works to raise awareness about congenital heart disease by organizing fundraising events and youth service projects. It also advocates for the Corazoncitos Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with congenital heart disease in Uruguay, which is Lila’s homeland.
Through its fundraising initiatives and awareness campaigns, Corazoncitos Key Biscayne seeks to enhance treatment options for children with congenital heart disease and build a robust family support system, providing hope and assistance to those in need.
Corazoncitos Key Biscayne is a Youth Service Project under the Key Biscayne Community Foundation.
