The Key Biscayne Community Foundation believes that education is crucial to bettering our future. KBCF offers numerous scholarships to reward academic excellence, leadership, compassion, and students acting to better our local, greater, or global communities.

Our Scholarships, Giving Circles, and Field of Interest funds include:

Eileen McCaughan Memorial Scholarship

The family and friends of Eileen McCaughan established the Scholarship to honor the life of an outstanding teenager who was tragically killed by a drunk driver at just 15 years old.

Jocelyn Watkins Scholarship

This scholarship was started to allow academically talented, but financially needy students a choice in pursuing education at a private high school or secondary school or college. The application period for the Jocelyn Watkins Scholarship is from January 1 to March 31.

Key Biscayne Women’s Giving Circle

The Key Biscayne Women’s Giving Circle is devoted to growing philanthropy among women, with the aim of identifying and financially supporting programs for women, children, and families in need throughout Miami-Dade County.

Liberty City Scholarship Fund

In partnership with the Chief Press Foundation, the Liberty City Student College Scholarship by Bill & Toby Rohrer aims to better the lives of students living in our Sister City, Liberty City. The scholarship is available to high school students from Liberty City wishing to continue their education at Miami-Dade College.

Michael’s Magic Camp

The Michael Scholz Memorial Charitable Fund was established to celebrate the passion for the outdoors displayed by Key Biscayne resident Michael Scholz and to honor the magical way in which he brought people together and touched their lives.

Robert Kemper M.D., PhD. Award for Professionalism in Medicine

In 2011, our community lost Dr. Bob to cancer. Beyond being the best community doctor a village could hope for, he was a great father, husband, neighbor, and friend.

Ron Erbel Scholarship for Firefighters

The Ron Erbel Scholarship for Firefighters is in memory of long-time Key Biscayne Firefighter and beloved resident Ron Erbel. Ron spent 17 days volunteering in the ruins of the September 11th aftermath. As a result of his service at the site, Ron contracted terminal cancer, leading to his untimely passing.

School Choice Scholarship

This scholarship was started to allow academically talented, but financially needy students a choice in pursuing education at a private high school or secondary school or college. The application period for the School Choice Scholarship is January 1 to March 31.

Victoria London Scholarship

Victoria London passed away in 2014 after a courageous battle with ALS. Victoria received her Master’s in Engineering and Business Administration at Columbia University and was the first woman ever admitted to Columbia’s Chemical Engineering Society, Phi Lambda Epsilon.

Village of Key Biscayne Public Safety Scholarship to Promote Education, Wellness, and Technology

The Village of Key Biscayne Public Safety Scholarship to Promote Education, Wellness, and Technology offers three separate scholarship awards: Educational Scholarship Award; Health and Wellness Scholarship Award; and Technology Scholarship Award

Young Designers Scholarship

The Young Designers Scholarship Fund is committed to advancing the education of exemplary Design and Architecture Senior High (DASH) students by offering annual design competitions and pre-college experiences at School of Visual Arts (SVA) and Parsons in New York City.
