Key Biscayne, FL (November 12, 2023) – The Key Biscayne Film Festival hosted a workshop for young filmmakers in the Key Biscayne Community Center on Saturday, November 11, 2023 in order to draw more youth voices in their film category: Spotlight on Youth. The Key Biscayne Film Festival has been seeking submissions from Miami’s local schools and aspiring filmmakers.
“The event was very positive and I think a lot of the youth appreciated it. It was a great turnout! Everyone who signed up showed up. We also had one kid who I found out later is a Youtube content creator who has tens of thousands of views on his work. It’s incredible to be part of a journey of someone who is able to develop his work as a storyteller,” says co-founder Isabel Custer, who attended the event in a room full of future directors, producers, and filmographers from Key Biscayne. “The goal of creating the youth category is for the youth who likes film, Youtube, or content creators and wants to do their own thing and improve his own craft.”
“In the future of the film festival, we’d like the content creators who inspired those kids. And I’d love to do more, even outside of the film festival. An evergreen workshop for kids on Key Biscayne. To get kids excited about it is the biggest win!”
The Key Biscayne Film Festival, slated for February 2nd to February 3rd, 2024, has already collected a few exciting titles to be screened for the community. Among the titles nominated for Islands & Oceans Short Film: All that is Sacred, The Life of Bill Baggs, and Fontaine.
