Join Miami Waterkeeper and Miami EcoAdventures for a Kayak Cleanup on Saturday April 8th at 9:30AM. Volunteers will hit the water on kayaks to conduct a marine debris clean-up in our coastal and mangrove habitats.
Fee: $30 per person for a 2 hour kayak clean-up. Registration fee includes kayak, paddles, PFDs, hydration packets, light snacks, and a Miami Waterkeeper staff guide. Registration fees are due in order to RSVP and refunds will not be issued for no-shows.
Volunteer Day Main Tasks:
- Removal of marine debris from the water and surrounding mangrove habitats
This volunteer event may require heavy lifting and experience on a kayak, hence teenagers and older groups are recommended. If younger age groups participate they should be monitored at all times by the designated guardian, parents, etc. *Community Service hours also provided*
Important Volunteer Information:
Please be on time, registration begins 30 minutes before the volunteer workday starts. Please arrive at 9:00am!
- Please Bring:
- Refillable water bottle. Stay hydrated and be prepared to work outside and on the water.
- Closed toe shoes are required and long-sleeved shirts are and long pants are recommended (clothes that can get wet).
- A hate, sunblock, and insect repellent (recommended)
- Gloves you feel comfortable wearing (otherwise Miami Waterkeeper will provide gloves)
- The kayak clean-up is weather dependent and the event will be canceled with at least 24 hours notice if inclement weather is anticipated.
